Beautiful engraving from a subject by Marcantonio Raimondi and Raffaello Sanzio, in unique condition.
The topic is "Alexander saves the books of Homer".

The measurements are 9.9" x 15.7".

Exemplary trimmed within the line, on heavy laid paper, in good condition, with abrasions on the reverse and a dark stain on the bottom left (see photo).
It depicts Alexander the Great, surrounded by his soldiers, ordering Homer's works to be secured in the tomb of Achilles.
Work by an anonymous artist from the first decades of the 16th century, similar to the very rare print by Marcantonio Raimondi, in turn derived from a drawing attributed to Raphael.
Bartsch XIV.168.207.
